About Riverlands Montessori School
Imagine a place where children can explore their world, discover new knowledge and realise their potential, where they really want to come to school each day. Riverlands Montessori School is located in the Swan Valley, in a rural setting with quiet surroundings, native gardens and a delightful atmosphere away from the bustle of the city. Our school community is positive and vibrant with experienced teaching staff and programs that promote involvement in the wider community.
Children are encouraged to develop at their own pace in a creative environment incorporating Montessori Philosophy. Montessori is a brain-based developmental education method that emphasises hands-on learning, self-expression and collaborative work and play in a beautifully crafted environment of respect, peace and happiness. It empowers children to be confident, creative thinkers who are self-directed. Our staff are committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for all.
Progress Evening this term is Tuesday 22nd August from 5.30pm to 7.00pm. We hold one in semester one for the afternoon and this one is in the evening to allow those parents/carers to come who work during daytime hours. We have an increasing number of families where both parents/partners/carers are working during daytime hours and find it so very hard to come to school events during the daytime.
These sessions are for your child/ren to show you their work in a one-on-one session. The Teachers are in their classrooms but not to engage in discussion about your child’s progress, this is a time for your child to tell you all about it. In Children’s House classes this often means a child will come with their parent/carer (often in their pyjamas due to the time, which is fine) and show them how to do a job, giving them a lesson in a favourite job. We do not expect all families to come to each of our Progress sessions, we understand that the timing of both events preclude some from attending, but hope that one can be attended per annum.
Everyone is welcome to join the discussions in the P&F meetings.
This one is to be held in Gumnut class after school drop off at 8:30. Coffee van will be on site for you to purchase a fresh coffee.
Come along, join in and find out what the P&F have planned for the year.
If you would like to attend this information session on Montessori philosophy and education and how you can best support your child in their education program at Riverlands, then please book in through the office. Bookings are essential to determine location of the event (staffroom -v- Riverdome). It will be held on Monday 28th August, 8.30am to 11.30 and childcare is provided but needs to be booked in.

Riverlands Montessori School is Celebrating 25 years in 2016
Riverlands is a beautiful, close‐knit school with a talented staff base. My children have flourished at the school, under the direction of committed teachers who ensure each child has a genuine understanding of a new task or challenge, rather than rushing the children through the curriculum in bulk. The Montessori system allows my children to develop their talents and address their weaknesses with dignity and enthusiasm. The school has contributed to my children becoming compassionate people and lifelong learners.Riverlands Parent
